Encaustics are an art form that comines elements of painting and sculpting in an ancient technique dating to Egyptian100-200 AD. Using beeswax and resin as a bninding agent for the pigments, and the application of heat through an iron the hot wax is applied to various types of board and paper.
About Melinda Etzold
Originally from Bisbee, Arizona, I have always loved the southwest. I have been a resident of El Paso, Texas, for over twenty five years now. I enjoy painting in many mediums. I love painting in pastels and watercolors but I also enjoy painting with encaustics, acrylics and oils. I love to paint the desert landscape while using a lot of bright bold colors.
